Winner

JBP98

With a Super Thursday streak of 17 consecutive wins, Joshua Pransky of Stoughton, Mass., is the winner of $5,000. Under the name JBP98, Pransky did not lose a single pick the entire day.

Pransky, a newlywed, is a Bryant University graduate who works as a supervisor for the computer software company MEDITECH. Pransky also is a passionate Boston sports fan, and his favorite team is the Red Sox.

Pransky's strategy was simple: Make as many picks as possible and hope for a little bit of luck. With plenty of golf on the board, he was in a bind because of his unfamiliarity with the players.

"With golf, I basically took what I thought had the best chance of happening. For example, I chose Anthony Kim to ace, birdie or par Hole 17 because the par 3 was only 198 yards and I knew that distance wasn't too difficult for a professional golfer," Pransky said.

Pransky did see two matchups that seemed like locks.

"My first lock pick of the day was Zack Greinke getting a strikeout in the first inning. That was pretty much a no-brainer with the way he's been pitching. My second one was a home run in the first two innings between the Yankees and the Orioles. Adam Eaton's ERA was close to 8.00 and the game was at Yankee Stadium, the Coors Field East," he said.

Rooting for the Yankees was difficult for this Red Sox fan, but once he got by that pick, he began to get as nervous as if he were in the 2004 World Series.

"After [Robinson] Cano hit that home run, I knew, looking at the standings, I didn't have to rush to make picks because the tie-breaker was in my favor. I decided to wait until someone else caught me to make another pick, and that turned out to be the Kobe [Bryant]-Carmelo [Anthony] matchup," Pransky said.

Luckily for him, Kobe started off the game scorching hot to win the first-quarter matchup, which was the clincher for Pransky.

Pransky said he doesn't know quite yet what he is going to do with the prize money.

"My wife and I love to travel, and we already have a vacation planned for August, which is already paid off, so hopefully we will use it toward another vacation in November," he said. "Though, contrary to what some of my friends and family might think, I will not be spending it on Red Sox tickets."

Pransky also would like to thank everyone who wrote on his SportsNation profile and says anyone can get as lucky as he did, so keep Streaking!
